Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP)

In 2007, the U.S. nuclear industry launched the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP), managed by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI).  The NUCP is a standardized certificate program designed to ensure the workforce is trained and in place at the right time. The NUCP was developed to quantify the need for nuclear plant workers, define industry approved curriculum, and implement the right number of programs. The intent is that graduates could be waived or exempted from portions of required initial training. By organizing industry partnerships with two-year education programs it leverages resources to provide the next generation of highly skilled workers.

The purpose of NEI is to foster and encourage the continued safe use and development of nuclear energy to meet the nation's energy, environmental and economic goals. In addition, the NEI supports the nuclear energy industry by encouraging educational institutions to promote education in nuclear energy disciplines.

EPCE is proud that the Associate's Degree in Nuclear Power Technology offered by the BSC National Energy Center for Excellence is approved by the NUCP for the non-licensed operator and Instrumentation & Control track. This is the first online education program to align with the NUCP.
